Occupational Therapists are part of our transdisciplinary education team and work collaboratively with teaching and Education Support (ES) staff to promote regulated teaching and learning practices across the school. This includes supporting the implementation of a range of sensory strategies and approaches, self-care strategies, fine and gross motor activities and social skill programs across the school environment.

Occupational Therapists employed at Frankston SDS work within a classroom-based service delivery model to support access to the curriculum across the whole school environment. Their role focuses on upskilling teachers and Education Support staff.

Rather than providing individualised therapy, school-based Occupational Therapists collaborate with staff to embed strategies and supports within classroom teaching and the curriculum. Their work is centred on building staff capacity and supporting inclusive practices that benefit all students.
