Room 2
Staff: Anna,Wendy and Liz
Welcome to Room 2. We have grown from 6 students to 7. Our program consists of basic living skills and increasing communication skills using a combination of gestures, PECS, photos and Auslan Sign Language.
The classroom staff work in a team environment which includes a Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Physio Assistant, Music Therapist and Specialist Teachers.
We have created a learning environment for the students and the staff who are able to learn from each other, to provide an excellent program for Room 2 students.

Term 1 involved getting to know each other and preparing for school routines. Some students required time to adjust to being apart from their parents. Our theme eas 'Me and My Family'. We focused on our body parts and counted how many eyes, ears, noses, mouths, arms, hands, legs and feet we all have. We practiced doing activities with our hands. We discussed members of our families and talked about our pets. We also practised recognising our first names. We referred to weekend news each week to learn basic concepts such as who, what , where, when, how and why. We joined in with the EEP class to sing action songs to improve social skills, being aware of each other and practicing taking turns.
