Occupational therapists use daily activities or occupations to improve a person's functional ability. The goal of the Occupational Therapy program at Frankston SDS is to improve the student's performance of tasks and activities that are important for them to be able to learn successfully at school. Foundational skills addressed range from poor motor planning, sensory processing concerns, visual perceptual, motor deficits and physical dysfunction.

 

Students are assesed and their strengths and needs determined. Therapy is carried out in order to support the student's ability to achieve their academic goals. Programs offerred include: Fine motor and self-care, Tharapeutic Listening, Sensory diets, Oral Motor and Perceptual Motor.

 

class set up & OT 044Assistive devices and modifications are also used to optimise a student's learning. Programs are both individual and group based.

Support is offered to both families and the individual when addressing the needs of the students.
